Contemporary, Popular, and Emergent Literature Literature is a form of enjoyment that transcends time. Whether it is written within the category of Contemporary, Popular, or Emerging literature, their stories have differently given impact and lessons to people. To be honest, among all the books I have read, I think what would last long is the stories from the category of Popular Literature. Personally, because their stories really gave an impactful message, unique plots, real-life lessons, and amazing characters to a huge number of people. They gave justice to what entertainment literature really has. To cite an example of what I have read as popular books there is Bob Ong's ABNKKBBSNPLAKo in Philippine literature, and Five Feet Apart by Daughtry and Ioconis. They were suited for everyone, and not just those educated people who can afford to buy it and understood the language used. However, I find emerging literature as ephemeral stories because it is only suited for modern reade...

EMERGENT

"EMERGING LITERATURE" A lot of examples were introduced in emerging literature. Emergent literature means new genres that are existing today. It also refers to new genres of scholarly discourse such as online collaborative spaces, academic blogs, websites, and e-prints. Creative Nonfiction, Hyper poetry, Chick Literature, Illustrated Novel, Graphic Novel, Digi-fiction, Text-talk novels, are examples of emerging literature. As we became modernized today, and people's tastes are constantly changing, I find emerging literature a good way to satisfy readers, especially modern readers like me. Themes that are dealing with problems with society, familial problems, love stories, conflicts in love, teenage problems, can be all presented in emerging literature. Through this, modern readers may find stories that are relatable, mirrors a lot of current issues, and entertained us as well. As we are engaged in using our smartphones and digital devices, we are always looking for hobbi...

POPULAR

"POPULAR LITERATURE"          Popular literature, defined as  literature intended for the masses and which fascinates large audiences because of the enjoyment it gives. It is written intended for entertainment, and also with the purpose of getting huge sales. Among all the categories, Popular literature is what I like the most. Why? Because in popular literature, with just holding a small book, I can travel and immerse myself into another place and culture, it can be read easily because the language used was not that complex, and it can entertain a lot of people who wants to have an escape to reality, and relate themselves into the character they are reading.  Popular literature avoids complicated terminology in favor of simple, commonplace words. Originally literature was only accessible to well-educated individuals, but with the industrial revolution, it became available to everyone. Popular literature lasts a fairly short time, yet some of th...

CONTEMPORARY

Image
"Contemporary Literature"         Contemporary literature, as the first category introduced in one of our major subject (Contemporary, Popular, and Emergent Literature), became a way for me to discover such beautiful stories.  Contemporary literature is a broad category of written works that span the period from a given point in history to the present moment. This literary age not only refers to a certain time period but also to a certain style and quality of writing. Some example books from this category are The Secret History by Donna Tartt, The Handmaid's Tale by Margarett Atwood, The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas, and more.  Why is it important in the development of literature? For me, cultures' social and political beliefs are accurately portrayed through contemporary literature. As a rule, writers go in search of what is in vogue in their time while writin...
