Wrapping up...
Contemporary, Popular, and Emergent Literature
Literature is a form of enjoyment that transcends time. Whether it is written within the category of Contemporary, Popular, or Emerging literature, their stories have differently given impact and lessons to people. To be honest, among all the books I have read, I think what would last long is the stories from the category of Popular Literature. Personally, because their stories really gave an impactful message, unique plots, real-life lessons, and amazing characters to a huge number of people. They gave justice to what entertainment literature really has. To cite an example of what I have read as popular books there is Bob Ong's ABNKKBBSNPLAKo in Philippine literature, and Five Feet Apart by Daughtry and Ioconis. They were suited for everyone, and not just those educated people who can afford to buy it and understood the language used. However, I find emerging literature as ephemeral stories because it is only suited for modern readers who has the ability to understand and reach the platform they used compared to the traditional way of reading books before. Moreover, to compare, I find contemporary books not as strong as popular fiction. They're stories that may not last long as popular fiction do. Contemporary literature may teach us about past lives, or those tragics that happened in world's history which shapes our literature as well as our lives today. In Popular literature, it satisfies the readers' search for escapism and possibilities in life. This is an incredible instrument that few other forms of entertainment can fully provide, and it is one of the reasons why literature is indeed beautiful. Whether you're having a bad day, stressed out in school, or having some hard time dealing with problems at home, popular books can help you escape into another world and live there for a while. While in Emergent literature, it encourages empathy and understanding. One of the most effective ways to thoroughly immerse your mind in the conversations and experiences of another person is to read. Being able to sympathise with and understand the emotions of others is critical for connecting you to diverse areas, races, communities, and eras.
In general, whether it is within the category of contemporary, popular, or emergent, it was still all a literature that represents human condition and serves as a vehicle for learning and connecting with others. By reading, we may totally immerse ourselves in another mindset and gain an understanding of how others think and feel. This is critical in today's society, as we become increasingly disconnected from one another because of the demand of social media. However, these three categories will never change in terms of how it makes you feel, regardless of whether it is printed or available as an eBook. In short terms, regardless of how and why a story is written, literature matters.
